Employer responsibilities
- Good personnel policies
Reasonable work rules
Employee handbooks and/or posted rules
- Policies must be enforced consistently
Disciplinary warnings must be given in a constant pattern
Discharges must meet the requirements stated in the policy
- Employee must understand the requirements of the job
A full job description should be given during orientation
Review the employee's performance continually
- Time should be allowed so that employees can meet standards
Explain what needs to be improved
Explain what will happen if the pattern is not corrected
